Upper Primary-Secondary Teacher for Music and Dramatic Arts

Overview:
We are looking for an experienced teacher to be responsible for teaching music and dramatic arts as part of the school curriculum. The teacher will create and follow a music curriculum that includes the theory and practice of general music, choral singing, and playing musical instruments. They should also prepare students for exams in music whether internally or externally. In addition, the music teacher is responsible for concerts, performances, and student activities related to dramatic arts and music and events where we showcase the school and/or provide public performances. 

To be successful as a music/ dramatic arts teacher, you should create an enjoyable learning environment to inspire young minds and help them grow in appreciation of music and dramatic performance. Ultimately, a top-notch music teacher should be skilled in playing musical instruments, planning concerts for student participation, and creating after-school music and drama clubs.

Overall Responsibilities:

• Teaching general styles of music and drama performance.
• Teaching a range of musical instruments, practical and theory.
• Teaching singing to students from beginner to advanced level.
• Incorporating musical instruments and dance movements in lessons.
• Planning and implementing a program of instruction and lesson plans.
• Preparing students for school concerts and planned music/drama experiences.
• Preparing students for practicals and exams.
• Inspiring and motivating students to extend themselves to after-school music clubs.
• Building relationships and mentoring students.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in music.
• Qualification to teach.
• Minimum of 3 years' teaching experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Choral pedagogy.
• Ability to set and mark examination papers.
• Ability to work well with a range of diverse learners, especially English Language Learners
• Experience in curriculum development
