Despite the cooler weather, the atmosphere at TH School was warm with the bustling activities and colourful traditional costumes of Kindergarten and Primary students and teachers at the Tết Festival.
After the traditional lion dance, the atmosphere of the Tết Festival warmed up with performances on traditional Vietnamese musical instruments including đàn tranh and đàn bầu. Performers also introduced the characteristics of these instruments. Students and teachers enjoyed listening to the song "Despacito" performed on the đàn bầu. KG and Primary Music Teacher Ms. Anissa Ruiz shared that, "As a school providing an international curriculum for students from many different countries, TH School always wants to honor the cultural identities of each country, especially the local Vietnamese culture. TH School always wants to honor the cultural identities of each country, especially the local Vietnamese culture. The Latin music of 'Despacito' covered on the đàn bầu has shown that spirit– integrating globally but retaining the local beauty of each culture.”
KG students also practiced wrapping chung cakes, made red envelopes and tò he– Vietnamese children's toys, wrote couplets, and took part in many other interesting activities. The meeting room felt like an authentic Tết market with Tết decorations of peach and apricot blossoms set up by the teachers. Meanwhile, Primary students challenged themselves in the Golden Bell Challenge with questions about Tết.
