Vietnamese Art program at TH School

Embracing experiential learning to help students find happiness in their learning journey, the Art teachers at TH School Chua Boc launched a Vietnamese Art exploration project for secondary students this past semester.

As part of the Vietnamese Art project, each grade explored a unique art theme with its own materials and techniques, creating a vibrant creative space infused with the colors of national culture, where students from Grades 6 to 10 transformed into “young artisans.”

Grade 6: Explored architectural patterns from Ly - Tran dynasties and practiced embossed printing on traditional paper.

Grade 7: Discovered Vietnamese silk painting and recreated silk artworks by artist Vu Thuy Mai.

Grade 8: Explored and practiced creating ceramic reliefs with architectural patterns from Ly - Tran dynasties using clay.

Grade 9: Learned about traditional Vietnamese cobalt ceramics and practiced pottery making.

Grade 10: Learned about Bien Hoa ceramics and practiced pottery making.

From traditional to contemporary art, from printmaking to pottery, the Vietnamese art exploration journey of TH School’s secondary students was deeply rooted in Vietnam’s history, culture, and geography. With a diverse and creative approach, TH School students not only broadened their understanding of the essence of Vietnamese art across different eras but also gained insight into the creation process, explored a wide range of unique artistic materials, and enjoyed a more practical and comprehensive art learning experience.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Anh, Art Teacher at TH School, shared that incorporating Vietnamese art into the international curriculum reflects the school 's ongoing efforts to inspire cultural pride in students through the lens of art, while also encouraging them to preserve and carry forward the artistic heritage of Vietnam.

Notably, this art program also served as a cultural bridge that helps international students to discover the beauty of traditional Vietnamese art, thereby fostering connection and cultural exchange within TH School’s multicultural student community.
