Job Description:

The Vietnamese Assistant Principal (VAP) serves as an educational leader responsible for communicating with teachers and school leaders and empowering the vision and mission of TH School. The VAP is responsible for managing the Vietnamese curriculum and teachers thereof, ensuring the following of DOET/MOET regulations and procedures, ensuring all students under Vietnamese teacher guidance are learning, are supervised in a safe learning environment, and are provided a high-quality Vietnamese education.   

The VAP will promote and ensure quality Vietnamese teaching and learning across Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary schools and will assist with maintaining standards across the 3 campuses.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Understanding the vision and mission of the school
  • Improving the educational outcomes of students within the Vietnamese framework
  • Ensuring the Vietnamese curriculum aligns vertically and horizontally across grades and year groups.
  • Leads and manages Vietnamese teachers in developing and enhancing the scope and sequence within the Vietnamese curriculum.
  • Maintains quality checks and reports on the progress of teaching and learning.
  • Develops the quality of resources in conjunction with teaching and learning.
  • Nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers, the community, and stakeholders 

Key Accountabilities

  • Report to the Superintendent and Principals on curriculum progress, student engagement, academic trends, and resource alignment.
  • Lead the Vietnamese teaching community to develop, articulate, and commit to sharing an educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students. 
  • Ensure the Vietnamese curriculum aligns vertically and horizontally across grades and year groups.
  • Uphold TH School education as a value-based source of learning.
  • Embrace and embed Vietnamese culture and socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Encourage partnerships with parents and community groups.
  • Understand the MOET/DOET legislation and policies that impact schooling.
  • Manage Vietnamese resources to achieve goals. 
  • Design and deliver parent engagement programs to deepen parent understanding of important topics/issues related to the Vietnamese curriculum.
  • Introduce new programs (e.g. IGCSE Vietnamese- First Language) and refine existing programs to enhance the Vietnamese curriculum.
  • Design and deliver parent engagement programs to deepen parent understanding of important topics/issues related to the Vietnamese curriculum
  • Balance and communicate effectively to coordinate between international leaders and Vietnamese principals.

Qualifications:

Requirements and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education/education Leadership, master’s preferred.
  • Professional Teaching qualification/license/certification as applicable
  • Previous experience in a leadership role, preferably as a Coordinator, Head Teacher, or Vice Principal in an international or bi-lingual school setting.
