Job Overview:
The Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) is a key member of the boarding school community,
responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive living environment for Gr. 9-12
students on the Hoa Lac Campus. The RLC plays a pivotal role in shaping the residential
experience by mentoring students, managing dorm life, coordinating activities, providing
academic tutoring, and promoting personal growth, wellbeing, and academic success. The
ideal candidate is passionate about working with adolescents and committed to creating a
positive, nurturing community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Student Support: Tutoring and Mentorship
• Provide daily guidance and support to residential students, helping them navigate
personal, social, and academic challenges.
• Foster a sense of community by promoting open communication, inclusivity, and
respect among students.
• Serve as a mentor and positive role model, encouraging personal growth, leadership,
and responsibility.
• Supervise structured study time and provide tutoring services in English in one of the
following advanced academic areas during the evenings: (IGCSE/A Level
Mathematics, IGCSE/A Level Sciences, Academic Writing)
2. Dormitory Management
• Supervise dormitory living, including enforcing policies, addressing disciplinary
issues, and maintaining a safe, secure environment.
• Conduct regular check-ins, dorm meetings, and inspections to ensure students'
wellbeing and compliance with school rules.
Residential Programming & Activities
• Plan, organise, and implement residential life programs and extracurricular activities
that promote community building, student engagement, and personal development.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student leaders to design social, recreational, and
educational events.
• Facilitate activities that encourage healthy living, time management, and academic
success.
3. Administrative Duties
• Contribute to the development and implementation of residential policies and
procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the Boarding Director, the Principal, the Counselor, and
teachers about student concerns and progress.
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion in dealing with sensitive student issues.
Collaboration with Faculty and Staff
• Work closely with academic faculty, counsellors, and administrators to ensure
students’ overall wellbeing and academic success.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and training sessions to support the broader
mission of the school.
• Assist in the orientation of new students and staff, ensuring smooth transitions into
residential life.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in education or in a human services field
• Advanced level of English; near fluent.
• Interested in working with adolescent children.
• Willingness to work one weekend day.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to provide individual and small group advanced level English language tutoring services in one of the following areas: (Mathematics, Sciences, Academic Writing).
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Willingness to live on campus and engage fully in the boarding school community, including evening and weekend commitments.
