Global Perspectives: “For The Communities” Projects
Category
Global Perspectives is a subject that helps students expand their understanding of global and social issues such as sustainable living, poverty and inequality, education for all, etc. And beyond theoretical knowledge, students are encouraged to step outside of their classroom to observe real-world issues, analyze the causes and impacts, and carry out hands-on projects.
Recently, as part of the experiential learning component of the Global Perspectives course, Grade 10 students of TH School did thorough research and started various community projects to address issues in Hanoi and support those in need. Through these projects, the students actively listened to, connected with, and contributed to positive changes in the local community, therefore fostering a strong sense of social responsibility within themselves.
With the spirit of “Dedication, Gratitude and Compassion”, the students have effectively applied their Global Perspectives knowledge to drive meaningful societal changes through the smallest actions. This experience serves as a strong foundation for TH School students as they step into the world with a global mindset.
Let’s explore some of their successful community projects in the images below!
Reducing environmental waste - Thanh Chi, Quoc Hung, Viet Hung, Houda (10B & 10C)
Recognizing the growing issue of pollution in the city, the student group organized a fundraising initiative to support environmental protection organizations. They also took direct action by participating in cleanup activities in the areas of Hoài Đức and Hà Đông. To further raise awareness, they successfully launched a social media campaign, encouraging the TH School community to adopt more sustainable habits.
(Project result details: Donated 1.8 million VND to Xanh Hanoi Organization; collected over 900 kg of waste in the local area)
"Meals of Love" for the homeless - Ngoc Anh, Gia Bao, Duc Anh, Gianmarco (10B & 10C)
With the guidance and support from Help Hanoi Homeless organization, the students personally distributed meals and essential supplies to more than 25 homeless individuals on the streets around the center of Hanoi city. Their dedication and enthusiasm also inspired others inside and outside the TH School community, leading to a collective donation of over 2 million VND to Ấm Charity Foundation.
Bringing joy to orphaned children - Minh Anh, Khoa Dien, Thai An, Manh Duc & Minh Hao, Thuy Linh, Nhat Minh, Sherae (10B & 10C)
One of the most emotionally impactful projects was supporting orphaned children at Thánh Tâm Shelter.
Aiming to bring education and happiness to these children, the group engaged the school community in donating over 40kg of school supplies, books, and toys. In addition, they provided essential gifts to the shelter, including 11 bags of rice and a box full of cooking ingredients such as cooking oil and instant noodles. The students also hosted 2 free educational sessions, guiding the children in crafting beautiful postcards as a way to express gratitude to their caregivers.
Trương Nhật Minh, a project member, shared: "We visited the orphanage twice to personally deliver the supplies and spend time interacting with the children, as well as comprehending their struggles. Despite knowing that this is an alarming issue beforehand, during this project, my perspectives were further broadened to see the harsh realities of the orphans’ daily living conditions."
(Project result details: Fundraised 3.4 million VND; donated 43 kg of educational supplies, 3 boxes of toys, 3 boxes of noodles, 9 bottles of cooking oil, 2 bags of 10 kg rice, and 9 bags of 5 kg rice)
