Overview
We are looking for a person with head of department or coordinator experience to lightly manage our
Vinh (Nghe Anh Province) in situ TH school teachers. The role is for someone passionate about teaching
Cambridge A level students in Vietnam, but with a flair for management and reporting. The students are
at year 11 level and going into the first year of A levels.
This is a regional position in the city of Vinh.
Key responsibilities
1. To manage academic staff
2. To teach up to 10 hours per week within a Math, English or Business A level subject
Management of Teaching Staff
Responsible for advising on teacher recruitment in line with student enrolments
Accountable for teacher training and development: ensures regular lesson observations and
constructive feedback take place
Holds regular staff meetings and CPD sessions for teachers
Arranges teaching cover when teachers are absent from work; ensuring that teachers have
instructions available on what is to be taught in their absence using the Scheme of Work.
Ensures teachers are up to date with administrative procedures including registers, progress
reports and certificates.
Ensures teachers produce weekly Schemes of Work and that these are filed and referred to
systematically
Manages holiday dates with teaching staff directly reporting to him/her; holidays to be taken at
such times to be convenient to the School
Provides teacher’s completed/authorised timesheets and any relevant information to the
HR/Finance Department within the set timescale.
Carries out Appraisals for reviewing the performance of all academic staff directly reporting to
him/her in accordance with TH School policy
Sets appropriate learning and teaching targets with proper monitoring and reporting in place
Carries out the disciplinary measures of staff, when required, in line with TH school procedures
as outlined in the Staff Handbook and with approval from Superintendent.
Academic Administration
Maintains class averages at optimal levels in agreement with the Superintendent.
Responsible for the allocations of teachers to classes/courses.
Manages assessment and reporting each term as required by TH school
Co-ordinates subject/teacher timetable placement when required.
Oversees Library and Computer Suite: offering provision of self-study material and internet to
students after class.
Ensures students are provided with access to self-study materials and advice from the staff.
Resources development: ordering materials which are appropriate to the needs of teachers and
students on summer programmes and year-round courses.
Works closely with appropriate TH staff and HTK staff in providing student success
Carries out student placement interviews and pre-course tests of prospective students to assess
language level for application purposes
Co-ordinates examination entries and certificates with TH School
Manages parent teacher meetings and the regular feedback to parents
Counsels students on all academic issues such as examinations, options and language level and,
if appropriate, arrange visits to TH Schools in Hanoi.
Liaises with Accommodation staff and other Administrative staff on students’ pastoral care,
where necessary.
Carries out classroom teaching when required, according to number of enrolments at the School
and projects being undertaken.
Operations
Attends conferences and training days, mutually agreed upon with the Superintendent.
Liaises with Admissions and Marketing on visits to the School.
Meets with ad hoc walk-in enquiries/prospective students.
Liaises with Head Office as appropriate.
Ensures that classrooms are set up correctly for use each morning and that windows, lights,
aircons and doors are secure at night
Education
First degree in Education preferred
Post Graduate Education Qualification, DELTA or equivalent Diploma
Experience
Experience of teacher recruitment
Academic management experience
Broad range of teaching experience
Knowledge of Cambridge education and English Language examinations (including IELTS)
Skills
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google
Proven organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work well within a team
Proven communication skills
Experience of working with databases and reporting systems
Marketing or business background would be useful
