Grade 11 students spent two weeks researching in preparation to go to trial for their Global Perspectives class. In the mock case, the bottled water industry stood accused of negatively affecting human health and the environment. Lawyers for the prosecution laid out their case, as lawyers for the defence argued on behalf of the defendant and ensured their client was afforded all of the protections provided through the law. With a panel of witnesses to question, a jury to deliberate on the merits of the legal arguments, and a judge presiding over the case, students had an opportunity to experience the judicial process in action.
